The Death Penalty

Do you agree with it? If so, why? Why not? Why am I making this sound like a question we'd get at school? And most importantly, what would you like to see changed about the topic of discussion?

Personally, I hate it, and I'm very thankful that I live within the EU. What if someone has been framed, but are only found out 20 years later? At least with the prison system you can let them out and apologise.

Although, I still think that suicide (successful, not just attempted) should be punishable by death, as it used to be.

If there is undeniable evidence and the crime is a triumph of horror then yes, I agree with the death penalty. But really, I'd settle for a life sentence that actually means you're in prison until you die. In fact I'd prefer that.

I agree with it sometimes. A man who raped and slaughtered 15 little girls, that you're going to let sit around in a jail cell until he rots? Don't think so. He should have the worst death imaginable.

But a death is easy. It maybe hurts a bit, but it's over quickly and he's at peace. Wouldn't it be better for him to go out of his mind in a life sentence? (Preferably an actual life sentence, not just 15 years or whatever).

That 20 years story.. I heard about something like that. This guy raped some girl and she picked out the wrong person in the line-up thing, and he was in jail for like a long time and then they found the real guy somehow, and let him out. I'd be so pissed if I was that guy..

Anyway, back on topic. I kind of agree with Kari. I mean if you did something horrible like raped and murdered continuous people, you don't deserve to live.

And also, it takes a really long time for them to actually kill you so isn't it better knowing every day your one day closer to dying, I mean better like, better for punishment.
