Callous Desires, ha! What perfect justice it was when she said that. The whore. Didn't she know how perfect I am? I deserve his fortune more than her! But I swear, if she comes near me, I will kill her. She knows where she belongs, in front of a dirty mirror remembering when she was better. I'll never let that happen to me, children are disgusting in everyway.

Chapter 1:
Welcome the Rain

Kyus Arthax woke with a start. He was cold and confused, with an on coming headache from the rain, pounding the dilapidated roof of an old, high security prison. However according to maps, ‘teachers’ and the empire of humanity, it was ‘Xalan Re-Education Centre for troubled and disabled youths’. The ‘troubled’ was the children using their ‘disability’, and the ‘disabilities’ were powers or ’genetically enhanced disabilities caused by recent evolution’.
It was 14 o’clock in the morning. The silence was constantly interrupted by grunts from the sleeping children.
Arched windows over rusting beds gave little light for the pale faces that lived in the cramped room. There was one dim light that had a broken neon bulb.
Why can’t I sleep like the rest of them? He thought as the light swung slightly overhead.
The room had a sort of horror-movie-evil-being-behind-you-don’t-go-in-the-closet-theme with dusty fading blue linoleum floors and cracked dirty white walls that matched the dirty white bed covers. The sense of fear radiating from the bodies of sleeping children enhanced the dark ambience.
Wearily the boy sat up. When he couldn’t sleep he didn’t try. Kyus looked around. His table beside his bed was wood, and rotting, on top was a mirror, and in the draws were uniforms.
He stood up and looked into the glorified glass.
He saw his tired, pale face, dull fair hair and lifeless dark eyes stare back at him. He didn’t like mirrors. They were a mere reflection of his life in a prison school.
Somehow, someone had appeared behind him. Kyus had guessed so, the usual murmur of dreams was cut out by a definite thought. Telepathy wasn’t fun. There was no surprises, no excitement, and if someone tried to make you fell better with a white lie, it wouldn’t work. It was like there was a person next to you, telling you everything that you didn’t need to know. But the sudden appearance was nothing to be happy about.
“Having a good time?” said Professor Raine coolly.
“No, no not really.” Replied Kyus in the same tone.
“Too bad.”
“Yeah”
“Now get into bed before I change the mattress into a bed of needles and throw you on it.”
“Of course sir.”
“Oh and when I enter, bow, like always.”
“Of course sir, you want me to welcome the almighty Raine”
Raine scowled
Kyus looked up, unable to move from the crushing stare.
“Bed,” Raine repeated
Kyus quietly ambled to his mattress.
“Phase one complete-.”
Kyus interjected: “ Phase two get up”
“I see your controlling class isn’t helping.”
“Not at all.”
Raine sighed, “Up!”
Suddenly everyone was up, standing straight and tall, except one, Natharian Thaeinhec, Kyus’ best friend.
“Natharian, would you like to join us?” Asked Raine, dazed from the lack of fear.
“Oh sorry, uh, Rainey. I just realized it’s my turn in the bathroom first. Ya’ know I-.” Nathe was interrupted.
“Child, I have no patients for your ramblings. You will get up immediately when I enter this excuse for a room or I will see to it that you won’t see daylight for a long time.”
Nathe looked at Kyus. The professor followed his stare.
Raine got out his Net-Com to talk to Professor-
“Cian”
“Yes Professor.”
“I want these boys in separate rooms.” He flashed a camera over Kyus’ and Nathe’s face.
“Yes Thundorius”
“Ah, but Cian I wish to see 0108, Kyus and 0109, Natharian tonight.”
“Yes Sir”
“Good.”
“Sir, I don’t think its fair that you punish me on the basis of I can see into your mind.” Kyus interjected.
“Oh, that’s not the whole reason why I’ve asked for you.”
“Fine look at the chart.”
“Well, let’s see,” Raine studied at the chart at the end of Kyus’ bed, “four detentions… insulting a teacher and, aha! Conspiring attacks on school equipment with student 0109… Natharian Thaeinhec.”
Kyus was unimpressed while Nathe looked nervously.
Raine suddenly turned, “To your classes.”
